China: World’s largest shipbuilder

According to new figures released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Chinese shipbuilders delivered a combined tonnage of 42.4 million DWT in 2009, up 47 percent from the previous year. The ministry added that this was 34.8 percent of the world’s total combined tonnage of delivered vessels. More at Baird Maritime >>
